Honey, nature's superfood
1. Honey fraud is widespread
According to recent studies, up to 80% of the honey available in German supermarkets could be counterfeit. If you buy inexpensive honey, there is a high probability that it has been adulterated with fructose, rice, or glucose syrup, as producing genuine honey at such low prices is hardly possible. Often, this honey comes from a mix of "EU and non-EU countries" and frequently contains low-quality honey from countries like China.
This does not apply to any of the products we sell!
2. Not all honey is raw
Supermarket honey is often heated to make the bottling process easier for manufacturers, which can lead to a loss of nutrients and enzymes. Genuine beekeeper honey, on the other hand, should always be in raw quality, but even here, there are no uniform standards. If in doubt, you can ask the beekeeper directly whether and to what temperature the honey is heated before bottling. Organic associations like Bioland, Biokreis, or Naturland allow a maximum temperature of 4 , while Demeter only permits up to 35 °C, which corresponds to the natural temperature in the beehive to preserve the valuable components. In general, most nutrients and enzymes remain fully intact at temperatures up to a maximum of 35 .
That’s exactly how we do it with our products!
