✅ Bees and Cosmetics: A Natural Connection
The same products are used in cosmetics as in apitherapy: honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, wax, and bee venom. Honey has softening, moisturizing, and sebum-regulating properties. Propolis has a skin-cleansing effect, while pollen has strengthening properties. Beeswax protects and softens the skin, and bee venom is used for "Botox-like" and "lifting" treatments.
According to Aideco, the Italian Association of Dermatology and Cosmetology, honey should also be used in cosmetics to support the skin during times of stress. Dr. Alessandra Vasselli, cosmetologist at Aideco, emphasizes: "The products from the hive are among the oldest natural remedies in human history and have been used since time immemorial. However, the use of beekeeping products in cosmetology varies greatly in terms of quantity and quality."
These natural ingredients demonstrate how closely bee products are linked to the care and health of our skin.

✅ Honey: A Natural Treasure for the Skin
Honey has long been used in cosmetics to slow down or combat skin aging and to provide daily skin care. Its diverse properties make it a valuable companion for skin and hair. Honey is not only moisturizing and emollient, but also rich in antioxidants that counteract cell aging. It also possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Dr. Vasselli explains: "The vitamins, proteins, lipids, and the high concentration of water-soluble sugars it contains are responsible for its softening, moisturizing, soothing, and regenerating properties. Honey also helps combat dehydration by preserving the skin's moisture content and creating optimal conditions for tissue softness and elasticity." Honey is therefore a versatile natural product that gently and effectively nourishes and protects the skin.

Honey for Every Skin Type
Honey is a versatile natural product suitable for all skin types. Two of the easiest ways to use it are by applying it directly to the skin as a beauty mask or by using it in homemade scrubs and scrubs for the face and body. A homemade scrub is easy to make by mixing brown sugar with honey and gently rubbing it into the skin. This method is effective, yet gentle and not too harsh. Alternatively, you can add a tablespoon of honey to an existing scrub for a natural sweetness and additional conditioning effect.
Whether you have dry, mature, blemished, or sensitive skin, honey adapts to your skin's needs and ensures a healthy, radiant appearance.

Honey for Healthy Hair
Hair also benefits enormously from regular use of honey. Its soothing, nourishing, and antibacterial properties work directly on the hair and scalp. Honey helps remove dead skin cells that can clog hair follicles, preventing dandruff and soothing itching. Honey is also a valuable source of nutrients and moisture.
To get the most out of honey, homemade compresses and hair masks are ideal. For dry, brittle hair, for example, you can make a mask with honey and coconut oil, which should be left on for at least 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can create a nourishing pack of olive oil and honey, which is applied over the entire length of your hair. A particularly moisturizing treatment is achieved with a blend of honey and sweet almond oil.
For more shine, combine honey with lemon juice and apply this emulsion to damp hair. These natural treatments ensure healthy, smooth, and shiny hair.

Pollen and Bee Venom in Cosmetics
Pollen is a true all-rounder for the skin: It restores moisture levels and has anti-aging and wrinkle-reducing effects. Bee venom, on the other hand, is primarily used in emulsions, soaps, creams, syndets, and pastes. What initially sounds paradoxical is actually a proven cosmetic ingredient: bee venom has a positive effect in beauty care.
"Bee venom is used in cosmetics as an active ingredient with a 'Botox-like' and 'lifting' effect. It appears to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin and relax the muscles in the dermis. It also has astringent properties," explains the aesthetician. Thus, the supposed "venom" becomes a valuable aid for firm and youthful-looking skin.
